Seasons: 4
Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) was engaged to Prince Francis (Toby Regbo) since they were six years old. After some time in a convent, she is brought back to the French court. They encounter several problems on their way to marriage including Francis’s bastard brother Sebastian (Bash) (Torrence Coombs), but eventually, they manage to put their differences aside and get married, but even then their problems aren’t solved because Francis’s mother Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows) is constantly plotting and backstabbing. At the end of the first season, the plague is back in France and Francis and Mary face probably the biggest problem they will have in their relationship. Coming back with a bastard child Mary finds herself in conflict with herself. After the plague, there is a hunger that spreads in France. Trying to find a solution to the problem Francis and Mary get themselves in problems and have to bend to a lord and they will have to continue bowing to him for a good part of the show. On his way back with his bastard son, he encounters his cousin Louis Condé Prince of Navarre (Sean Teale) who helps him through the country. Louis meets Mary and the sparks fly. After a tragic incident, Mary seeks comfort from Francis but he sees how Mary and Louis interact and gets jealous so he pulls away from mary at the time she needs him most so you feel like they are going to need a whole other season to find back to each other, but the process is accelerated when Louis commits a terrible mistake and Marys does not trust Louis anymore.
I have never seen Adelaide Kane in any other movie nor series, but she instantly became one of my favorite actresses. She is so beautiful and portrayed Mary so well. Her voice is southing and swift in a way that you just want to listen to her forever.
I only wrote about two seasons, but i’ll do the other two in the near future. I loved loved loved this show and I watched it like 3 times but it never gets old. The plots and twists are really great. This is a great show that you can find on Netflix.
